 Detailing can be confused with valeting. When valeting errors can be made in washing methods, leading to swirl marks & wash marring, which can dull the appearance of your vehicle.  Improper cleaning can seriously damage your vehicle's paint. Failing to remove surface dirt properly turns the washing process into an abrasive one, grinding particles into the finish and causing noticeable "swirl marks." Many cheap "full valets" also use harmful, acidic cleaning products intended for concrete, which can cause corrosion and rust on brake components, wheel nuts, and exhaust tips.  

 Unfortunately, new cars are not immune to paint imperfections. Dealerships can inadvertently cause micro-scratches during their rushed Pre-Delivery Inspection process while removing protective coatings.
